Grace & Dignity
G&D = Grace and Dignity.
This will be a series of paintings, visual poetry,
and hand painted bags.
The series G&D started one day as
I was looking at myself one morning sitting
on the floor stretching and a little sleepy .
The full length mirror was not close to me
my reflection was slightly blurred.
As I looked at myself, more specifically my body,
(not my freckles, wrinkles, dimples or skin color.)
For the first time I was seeing something else.
The flow of my body, how beautifully
each part connected to the other.
I begin to ask myself, was I treating this
body of mine right?
What did I want from it ?
I came up with the answer.
I wanted my body,
To be treated with grace & dignity.
To be held with grace & dignity.
To be seen with grace & dignity.
To be loved with grace & dignity.
To grow old with grace & dignity.
More importantly.
I want to show Grace and Dignity.
